FAQ

Why are you called Devaweb?

The name "Devaweb" goes back to our roots in Chester, Deva being the name that the Romans gave to the town. Round there, everything has the word “Deva” in it… from Deva Cabs to Deva Print, and Chester City FC’s mighty new home, the Deva stadium.

As for "web", well a long time ago Devaweb made websites. However, we soon discovered that nobody wanted our websites. The jingles though were more popular but by then the name had stuck. So, “Devaweb” it is!

Where are you?

That varies. Our two main bases are are in Chester, UK, and Dallas, Texas, USA. We travel a lot. Luckily, our laptop-based portable studio also allows us to produce much of our material as we travel. Obviously, though, all the highly involved stuff concerning keyboards, sound processors and so on happens in our less portable set-up!

We like the idea of Devaweb being a portable set-up. Why should it matter where we are? We want to serve everyone, and through the power of the internet, we can.

Who works for Devaweb?

Various people at various times. Chris is the founder and force behind it all, Wim looks after the technical infrastructure of our studios and IT systems, and Rachel keeps an eye on the paperwork much of the time. There are also various freelancers working for us. We use them when we require their specialist skills or when the workloads are particularly high.

Can I become one of your voice overs?

You’re more than welcome to email a sample of your voice to audio@devaweb.co.uk, but please bear in mind that many of our clients like to use well-known voice artists. Also, not all of the voices that we use are on our Voices page – only a selection. Our database contains many more, and if you want to be considered then feel free to email us something. For advice on have to make it as a voice artist, we recommend you read the wise words in the Advice section on the Excellent Voice website.

Can I download my imaging?

Oh yes! In fact, it’s now our standard delivery method. It’s quicker, easier and cheaper. We normally upload your audio as 256k MP3 files, but we can upload pretty much any format required.
